Conservative Party candidate called transgender children trash

Both liberals and conservatives are outraged.

The scandal in Canada shows how important it is for politicians to watch what they say and choose their words carefully. A sloppily thrown phrase can cost them their careers, and the best of their message will be resented. Alberta Conservative Party candidate Jennifer Johnson has apologized for her rude words about transgender children. She admits she's very embarrassed about the speech at the 2022 speech. Voters will probably forgive the woman after all — she has openly supported LGBT people before and has been correct about all populations. But her remarks infuriated liberals and conservatives alike.

At a speech in 2022, Johnson compared transgender kids in junior high and high school to a spoonful of life's waste in cookie dough. This instantly drew the ire of even conservatives: it doesn't matter if children are LGBT, they are still children and a grown woman should not insult them. Especially if she is a politician and a public figure. On this issue, conservatives found themselves in solidarity with liberals for the first time in a long time.

In fact, Jennifer was talking about important things, but she chose a very unfortunate wording. The politician rightly noted that sex reassignment surgery is too early for junior high and high school students. Both hormone therapy and surgery at such a young age are very dangerous to the body — osteoporosis, muscle and joint pain, complete infertility and even cancer are among the side effects. Johnson said: "We need to ban transgender transitions at least until the age of 16. It's absurd — kids who can't legally buy a can of beer yet are making far too serious decisions about their health. Vaginoplasty, double mastectomy, and hormone therapy at an age when children have not even begun to break their voices is insane. That said, plastic surgery is illegal for them. It's terrible that we already have surgically or chemically neutered kids in high school."

About the latter, we need to explain: infertility is a frequent consequence of transgender transition at an early age. The problem is not just the inability to conceive — young Canadians can become parents through adoption in the future. Such interventions can lead to the collapse of the entire endocrine system of the body. And the consequences of this already become chronic pain, depression and fatigue, brittle bones, early menopause and even malignant tumors.

However, Johnson does not call for a ban on transgenderism entirely: she believes that it can be done by adults. Both liberals and conservatives would agree with her here, as would a large part of the LGBT community — not everyone there supports interfering with children's bodies either. But the unfortunate wording almost cost her her career and her seat in Parliament.
