Incredible storm grips Canada

The freezing rain has left millions of people without electricity.

The long Easter weekend celebrations came to an end in Canada last weekend. However, by the beginning of Thursday, a natural disaster had struck many cities and provinces, mainly affecting Quebéc. Schools canceled their classes, and the government closed some institutions.

A lot of people were left without electricity for a while. Malfunctions occurred due to freezing rain. Frozen branches were falling on cars, houses, roads, and electricity transmission lines, causing power outages.

Hydro-Quebec, the crew responsible for solving this problem, reported on their official Twitter page that some people still would not have electricity by the end of the weekend. The Quebec government warned that it was dangerous to travel on highways, roads, and sidewalks, as the consequences of the disaster had not been fully resolved yet.

Residents of Canadian provinces are still expressing their dissatisfaction with social media. Some of them protest that power lines should be buried underground as it would be safer. The others reasonably respond that the underground wires can be damaged during renovations and construction.

In the current situation, people tried to cooperate with each other and provide assistance. Locals reported that some of the cafes still worked. There was food and hot tea.
