Ministers meet in Brussels

Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mélanie Joly camel to Brussels to attend the NATO Foreign Ministers’ meeting from April 4-5 2023.

Canada and its North Atlantic allies meet to take stock of the evolving security environment and current challenges and to review priorities ahead of the July summit.

Also the Canadian minister will participate in the official ceremony of accepting Finland as a new member of NATO.

Minister Joly and her colleagues will hold a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Commission with Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine's foreign minister. Canada continues to support Ukraine and host Ukrainians with a special CUAET program.

NATO foreign ministers will also meet with the Alliance's four Indo-Pacific partners – Australia, Japan, Korea and New Zealand – as well as the European Union to discuss mutual security priorities. Minister Joly will emphasize the importance of increased cooperation between NATO, its partners in the Indo-Pacific region and the EU to address common security challenges.
