Uniqlo To Enter Ottawa Market With Ongoing Canadian Store Expansion
It’s part of a national expansion for Uniqlo that will see it operate locations in the Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Ottawa markets by the end of the year.
The store will open at the Rideau Center in June and will be located on the third floor of the mall.
The Ottawa store at CF Rideau Centre will span about 15,000 square feet on the third floor.
Uniqlo now has seven stores in the Greater Toronto Area and 16 more across Canada. The company opened its first Canadian store in Toronto's Eaton Centre in 2016.
“We are proud of our strong connection to Canada,” said Daisuke Tsukagoshi, CEO, UNIQLO North America.
“Opening in the nation’s capital marks an important milestone in UNIQLO’s progress; it will allow us to strengthen our relationship with Canadian shoppers and introduce LifeWear to new guests – that clothing is made for everyone every day.”
The new Ottawa branch will be the first Canadian store to open in 2023. It will be part of a planned five-year expansion in the U.S. and Canada. Uniqlo said that it has a five year plan to operate about 200 stores in North America, with plans to open about 20 stores a year into 2027.
Since opening its first store in Hiroshima in 1984, Uniqlo has expanded exponentially. The brand now has more than 2,300 stores.
