In 2023 there will be many vacancies in the Canadian labor market
Business consulting firm Robert Half conducted a study and found that a large number of Canadians plan to change jobs after the New Year.
Despite high inflation and economic difficulties, more than half of Canadians are reday to leave their stable work and look for new one.
Of 100% of those surveyed, 50% said they would do so in 2023. According to the calculations, there are more than 31% who want to change the job in comparison with summer of 2022.
The study included 1,100 employees of various ages and qualifications. Among those who can't sit still, young Canadians led the way. 57% of workers in the technical sector said they intended to quit.
"Many Canadian workers continue to have confidence in the job market despite news of layoffs and slowing hiring," senior managing director David King said in a press release Wednesday.
The biggest motivator for Canadians who are in search of a new job, experts named money. But such reasons were also mentioned as loss of interest, unreasonable requirements of bosses, and non-compliance with company values.
- 62% want to earn more money;
- 39% expect more benefits or experience in the new place;
- 30% want career advancement and growth;
- 27% looking for a more flexible place and time to work.
Employers are seriously concerned about retaining talent in the workplace and attracting professionals in their business. Although, according to the survey, one in 10 professionals will return to their previous jobs on the condition of a pay raise. Provinces continue to select immigrant candidates who fit the criteria.
