A 3,000-kilometer storm is headed for Canada from the U.S. Who should be careful?

Meteorologists are predicting severe snowstorms in parts of southern Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec. The storm is already raging across the United States. Residents of these provinces need to be prepared for heavy snowfall and wind.

This weather is typical for this time of year. The southeastern Saskatchewan and southern Manitoba areas are most likely to feel the winter blizzard because of the snow drifts and winds.

Canada has six climate zones, so the weather varies from province to province. The vast territory of the country, the topography and the proximity of oceans affect the difference in weather conditions.

There are very few inhabitants in the north of the country because of the harsh climatic conditions. The Arctic Ocean forms constant cold and wet weather. In the south, warm current influences, so even in winter the temperature does not drop below 5 °C.

The coldest winter months in Canada are January and February. In Toronto, temperatures can drop as low as minus 20. High winds and snowfalls are quite common. Ottawa is in the temperate continental part and is known for its rainy mild climate. Winter temperatures top out at minus 15 degrees Celsius. In Edmonds, the winter temperature is minus 16, in Vancouver, it averages 0, and in Montreal, it is minus 12.
