Silver bullion caused a traffic accident in Canada

The unusual case surprised journalists and police officers.

Sondy, a Canadian from Kingston in the province of Ontario, had an interesting accident. He hit some object on the road, which punctured his tire.

"I knew right away that the tire was blown," Sondi told reporters. “I pulled over to the side and, you know, I saw it. OK, I need to get that fixed. And then afterwards I went, just out of curiosity, to look and see what I hit, right, to maybe get it off the road.”

The object that punctured the man's tire turned out to be a 100 oz (3.11 kg) bar of 999 silver. The cost of such bullion is more than $3,100 CAD.

“It is kind of odd. I’ve never seen one like that before,” commented the Kingston police officer. “It is marked Royal Canadian Mint silver bar. It’s got a serial number on it, so our property room has it.”

It is now up to the police to contact detectives to see if there are any investigations going on related to the bullion, as well as the mint to find out who might have lost the silver. If the owner cannot be found, the bullion is likely to be auctioned off. The lost and found will not be returned to the finder.

Sondy, on the other hand, says he would like the bullion to be returned to its owner, even though he himself would be left with only an interesting story and a bill to replace two tires.
