Ontario parks will impose restrictions on visitors and tourists

As the number of campsites in the province has increased in recent years, some park areas want to reduce the length of stay.

Ontario has decided to reduce the maximum length of camping in provincial parks in the near future. The new changes will take effect as early as 2023. The restrictions will affect several popular park areas and nature reserves. While visitors and tourists used to be able to camp for up to 23 nights, the duration after introducing the new rules will be reduced to 7 and 14 nights.

As the province explains, because of the large influx of people, especially in the summertime, many other locals do not have the opportunity to spend weekends or vacations in local parks. Therefore, new restrictions were decided to be introduced in 2023. According to the initiators, by reducing the maximum length of stay in some popular park areas, more Ontarians and other visitors will be able to enjoy outdoor recreation and camping.

Outdoor recreation is a very popular activity, both in Ontario and across Canada. In recent years, the number of people who want to enjoy the picturesque local views has been growing rapidly. Statistics show that while a few years ago there were more than 4 million campsites in Ontario's provincial parks, in 2021 there will be more than 6 million.

By the way, according to Google statistics, the province of Ontario is on the list of the most popular Canadian provinces among tourists. In particular, the local MarineLand zoo in Niagara Falls is famous for its unique beauty.

Restrictions on the duration will be in effect for a certain summer period and will affect several of the most popular parks in the province. The complete list can be found here.
