Montreal blogger killed by a car
An intuitive eating specialist was involved in an accident while biking.
On July 18, 2022, Cynthia Marcotte, 29, a well-known social media nutritionist and intuitive eating specialist, was hit while biking with her boyfriend. She died on the way to the hospital from her injuries.
The nutritionist was known on social networks, where she talked about her system of nutrition, shared tips and healthy recipes. Cynthia had more than 50,000 subscribers. Since 2016, she was a member of the Order of Dietitians-Nutritionists of Quebec, led an active social life and wrote books. In addition, Marcotte ran a website about intuitive eating.
Many are shocked by the circumstances of the head-on collision. There were no obstacles that could have provoked the accident on the road stretch where it occurred. The Vélo Québec believes that human error was the most likely cause of the tragedy.
Marcotte's death provoked a very strong reaction on social media. Representatives of many organizations related to nutrition have expressed their condolences for the incident.
