Mayor of Canadian capital plans to sell confiscated trucks from protesters
The state of emergency law gives the government this power as well.
Someone has to compensate for the costs the city has incurred during the three weeks of unrest. The current head of the police said that the security forces would actively seek out, fine and prosecute even those protesters who left voluntarily — and at least 90 truckers who stood in the city center left on Saturday.
The main camp of the protesters in front of Parliament Hill is cleared. On Friday more than 100 people were arrested, on Saturday — 47. A total of 170 people have been arrested so far. Police officers towed 53 cars and seized 22 license plates.
Rumors of casualties, in particular of a woman on crutches being trampled by a horse, the police declared false. The police admit only the use of pepper spray and special non-lethal weapons ARWEN for self-defense. However, mounted police officers did drive into the crowd, and at least two people were knocked down. Since the residents of the Canadian capital were officially asked not to call the overloaded 911 number, the exact number of victims is still technically impossible to give.
