Manitoba imposes new restrictions on the unvaccinated
The province has imposed an orange danger level. In connection with this, a decision has been taken on new restrictions.
On October 1, the provincial government said it was switching to an orange danger level. However, schools will continue to operate at a yellow danger level to allow children to attend classes longer.
This statement is connected with the growth of the level of coronavirus disease. On September 29 alone, 114 new cases were recorded in the province. Of these, 77 people were unvaccinated, 8 had only their first vaccination, and 29 were fully vaccinated.
So far, 86 people are being treated in Manitoba hospitals for coronavirus. There are 20 people in intensive care units. Of these, 12 are unvaccinated and two are partially vaccinated.
This situation has alarmed the Government of Manitoba, so it has announced new health care decisions. They will take effect on October 5. These orders will make life much more difficult for unvaccinated residents of the province.
Now Manitoba residents can't:
- accept guests at home if an unvaccinated person lives in the house;
- gathering outdoors in a group of more than 10 people if an unvaccinated person is there;
- gather at public events of 25 people or more than 25% of the capacity (whichever is less) if unvaccinated people are among them;
- be at religious events with 25 people or more than 33% of capacity (whichever is greater) if unvaccinated people are among them;
- to fill the retail space by more than 50%;
- organize public outdoor events with a capacity of more than 50 people. However, if the event is for vaccinated persons only, a permit can be obtained.
According to Brent Russin, the province's chief public health officer, these restrictions have little impact on the lives of fully vaccinated provincial residents and children under the age of 12.
