Saskatchewan's first day without quarantine

Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan became the second province after Alberta to lift all coronavirus restrictions.

Last Sunday in Saskatchewan's largest city, Saskatoon, was like a normal summer day: people were enjoying the sunshine and the long-awaited lifting of all provincial pandemic orders.

Thus, the city park "Prairieland Park" hosted several events, the first of which was a beach volleyball tournament.

"It's really weird because yesterday we had masks and now we don't have them. It's amazing to be back to normal!", Francine Pueck, one of the tournament participants, told CTV News in her interview.

The girl also noted that the weather was great and one could really enjoy the first day without wearing masks in a period that had taken over a year. Nevertheless, she carries her mask with her because she does not yet feel completely comfortable without it.

Inside Sports on Tap had no limits for a healthy crowd: dozens came to watch the UEFA Eurocup final between England and Italy, hosted by Living Skies Sports and Entertainment, a company eager to bring a Canadian Premier League team to Saskatoon.

"The stars have aligned! It really is a great day for soccer, for Prairieland Park and for everyone in Saskatchewan," said Alan Simpson, president and CEO of Living Skies moments before England scored their first goal of the game.

Simpson noted that more than 80 people registered for the event, but more people showed up during the match, which wasn't possible back on Saturday.
