The U.S. government commented on the news of the opening of borders with Canada

Do we wait for the opening on June 22?

Last week, Len Saunders, a prominent U.S.-based immigration attorney, told the media that meetings were being held in Washington, D.C. to address the issue of opening the border.

"I was told that instructions came out from headquarters that the U.S. border would be fully open on June 22, in just over three weeks," Saunders said.

However, the US government later denied this information.

Earlier, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that the Canada-US border will be closed until at least June 21. The closed border regime has been extended every month for more than a year now.

Preliminary talks on opening are underway, but so far countries have not agreed on how travellers will confirm that they are vaccinated.
