Canada has suspended the use of a vaccine

The Ministry of Health has doubts about the quality of the shipment that arrived in Canada.

Health Canada has decided not to use the Johnson & Johnson vaccine for the time being. The reason was a recent inspection at the Baltimore plant in the United States, where the product came from. It turned out that a certain drug substance was used in the production of the vaccines.

"The drug substance is an active ingredient that undergoes further processing before becoming a vaccine. The final version of the vaccine was produced at another facility, outside the U.S.," the DHS said in a statement.

The plant spoiled 15 million doses of Johnson & Johnson by an error in mixing the components of the vaccine. 300,000 doses of this batch arrived in Canada on April 28.

The vaccines will be used only after the Ministry of Health is satisfied that they are of good quality, safe and effective. The same factory delivered 1.5 million doses of AstraZeneca to Canada, but the Ministry of Health said there were no doubts about the quality of this batch.
