Changing the COVID-19 vaccination schedule for pregnant women

The province has reprioritized vaccination due to the increased incidence of infection.

On April 21, the New Brunswick government released a new regulation that opened the door for pregnant women to get the COVID-19 vaccine, even if they do not have any other diseases.

Up to that point, the health department had given priority to early-onset females with two or more chronic diseases. Only the risk factor was taken into account, which seemed to be much higher for such patients.

Precedents in other provinces, however, have shown that 70% of pregnant women require intensive care and ventilation if infected. Subsequently, they face a large number of side effects, regardless of the presence of other ailments.

The New Brunswick Health Department noted that you should make an appointment as soon as possible by contacting the Horizon Community Clinic or Vitalite Health Network. You can register online or by phone.
