Alberta invited 100 IT professionals as part of the Accelerated Tech Pathway
The minimum score was 59—one point lower than in the previous selection round in early September.
Alberta conducted a selection process for the Accelerated Tech Pathway under the Alberta Express Entry Stream on September 22, 2026. One hundred IT professionals from the Express Entry pool received invitations to apply for a provincial nomination; the minimum score was 59.
In these selection rounds, points are not calculated using the CRS system, but rather based on Worker Expression of Interest points, which are awarded by the province itself.
The previous selection round for this program took place on September 3, 2026. At that time, the province invited 96 candidates with a minimum score of 60. The number of invitations increased by four, and the cutoff score was lowered by one point. This is the second Accelerated Tech Pathway selection round in September.
What the 2026 tryouts reveal
Since the summer, the number of invitations extended to IT professionals has decreased significantly. From January through May, Alberta invited between 139 and 200 candidates per round, but since June 19, the number of invitations has ranged from 95 to 100, with the exception of the July 8 round, which had 149 invitations. The largest recruitment round in 2026 remains the one on May 29, with 200 invitations.
The minimum score for 2026 ranged from 55 to 63. It was highest during the first selection round of the year on January 29; a score of 55 was sufficient on May 29 and July 8. This is the fourth time the province has set the threshold at 59; previously, it was on February 11, April 8, and June 19.
Since the beginning of 2026, Alberta has held 11 Accelerated Tech Pathway selection rounds and issued 1,466 invitations.
