British Columbia has issued invitations to entrepreneurs

The province held a new immigration draw for entrepreneurs ready to start or purchase a business.

On July 28, 2026, British Columbia held a new immigration draw under its provincial program. This time, invitations went to entrepreneurs planning to start a new business or purchase an existing company in the province.

A total of 10 invitations were issued. The minimum passing score was 117.

Entrepreneur Draw

The draw was conducted through British Columbia's main entrepreneur immigration stream. It's designed for experienced business owners and managers who are ready to invest and actively participate in running a company in the province.

To qualify, candidates must have business experience, meet personal net worth and investment requirements, and prepare a business plan.

The minimum personal net worth is $600,000 CAD, and the minimum investment in a British Columbia business must be $200,000 CAD. English or French language proficiency at CLB 4 level or higher is also required.

Comparison with Previous Entrepreneur Draw

The previous entrepreneur draw took place on June 30, 2026. At that time, 14 invitations were issued through the main stream with a minimum score of 118.

In this new draw, the number of invitations decreased by 4, while the passing score dropped by 1 point.

Throughout 2026, the minimum score for the main entrepreneur stream has remained relatively stable, ranging from 115 to 121 points. By July 28, the province had already conducted eight draws in this category.

Province's Previous Immigration Draw

British Columbia's previous draw took place on July 23, 2026 and targeted healthcare workers in rural and remote areas. At that time, 60 candidates received invitations with a minimum score of 50.

The July 28 draw was significantly different from the previous one, as it was exclusively for entrepreneurs. The province continues to use different program streams based on economic and regional needs.

What Happens After an Invitation

After receiving an invitation, entrepreneurs can submit a full application for a provincial nomination. If approved, candidates can come to British Columbia on a work permit and implement their stated business plan.

After meeting program requirements, including establishing or developing the business and actively participating in its management, candidates can receive a provincial nomination and apply for permanent residence in Canada.
