Canada invited 5,000 French-speaking candidates through Express Entry
The quota increased by 500 people compared to May.
On July 9, 2026, Canada held a category-based Express Entry draw for candidates with French language proficiency. Invitations to apply for permanent residence were sent to 5,000 candidates.
The cut-off score was 420. In the previous draw on May 28, 2026, the threshold was 409, and 4,500 people received invitations. The score increased by 11 points, while the quota went up by 500 people.
The number of invitations for French-speaking candidates is gradually recovering. In early 2026, quotas were significantly higher: 8,500 invitations in February and 5,500 in March. Then the number dropped to 4,000 and remained at that level for several consecutive draws. Since May, there's been a reverse trend: 4,500 in May and 5,000 in July. Meanwhile, the cut-off score remains relatively low, ranging between 393-420.
Among candidates with the same score of 420 points, priority was given to those with an earlier profile creation date. The tie-breaking date was May 15, 2026.
Invited candidates must submit a complete set of documents within 60 days. The package includes French language test results (and English if applicable), proof of education, work experience documents, and more.
