Canada conducted the second Express Entry selection for doctors with work experience in the country

Invitations were sent to 271 candidates, and the passing score increased to 223 compared to the February draw.

On June 24, 2026, an Express Entry draw took place for the category of physicians with Canadian work experience. This was the third draw in three consecutive days: on June 22, there was a draw for provincial nominees, on June 23 for candidates with Canadian work experience, and on June 24 for physicians. This level of activity is particularly noticeable after an almost month-long pause in the system.

For the physicians category, this is only the second draw: the first one took place on February 19, 2026, more than four months ago.

This time, 271 candidates received invitations to apply for permanent residence. The cut-off score was 223. For comparison, the February draw had a significantly lower threshold of 169 points, and 391 physicians received invitations at that time. This means the cut-off score increased by 54 points, while the number of invitations dropped by 120 people.

Despite the higher threshold, the cut-off score in this category remains extremely low compared to other types of Express Entry draws. This is because the category targets a narrow group of specialists, and Canada is facing a severe shortage of healthcare workers.

When candidates had the same score of 223, priority was given to those who submitted their profile before May 31, 2026. Earlier registration in the system increases your chances when scores are tied.

Invited candidates have 60 days to submit their complete application package, including proof of medical qualifications, Canadian work experience, language test results, and other required documents.

What are category-based Express Entry draws

In addition to general draws, Canada conducts category-based draws aimed at attracting specialists in priority areas. The category for physicians with Canadian work experience was introduced in 2026 and is designed to speed up permanent residence for foreign medical professionals already practicing in the country. Candidates are assessed through the Express Entry system using standard criteria: age, education, language proficiency, and work experience.
