Express Entry drastically reduced the passing score for provincial nominees

The cutoff dropped by 75 points to 730 points, and the number of invitations nearly tripled.

On June 22, 2026, a new draw took place in the Express Entry system for candidates with provincial nominations. The last Express Entry draw in any category was held on May 28, 2026, while the previous draw specifically for provincial nominees took place on May 25. This means the system resumed operations after nearly a month-long pause. A total of 955 people received invitations to apply for permanent residence.

The cut-off score was 730, which is 75 points lower than the previous draw on May 25, 2026, when the threshold stood at 805. Meanwhile, the number of invitations issued nearly tripled: from 334 to 955 candidates.

This is one of the most significant easing of requirements for provincial nominees in recent times. In several previous draws, the score had been steadily rising and exceeded 790 points, but this time the situation changed dramatically.

Considering that a provincial nomination adds 600 points to a candidate's score, only 130 points were needed from basic criteria to pass this draw: age, education, language skills, and work experience. This makes the draw significantly more accessible compared to previous ones.

Candidates with the same score of 730 points were ranked by their profile submission date. Priority was given to those who registered in the system before March 9, 2026.

Invited candidates have 60 days to prepare and submit their complete application package. This includes language test results, educational credentials, proof of work experience, and provincial nomination confirmation.
