Canada has increased the number of invitations under the Canadian Experience Class

In the Canadian Experience Class draw, 3,000 people received invitations despite an increase in the cutoff score.

On May 27, 2026, Canada held a new Express Entry draw under the Canadian Experience Class category, targeting candidates with work experience in the country. A total of 3,000 people received invitations to apply for permanent residence.

The cut-off score this time was 518. In the previous draw on April 28, the threshold was lower at 514, but only 2,000 candidates received invitations. So the cut-off score increased by 4 points, while the number of invitations went up by a thousand.

The significant increase in the number of invitations shows that Canada is ramping up recruitment of professionals who already have Canadian work experience. Despite the higher threshold, the expanded quota opens up opportunities for more candidates.

When candidates had the same score of 518, priority was given to those who registered their profile before April 30, 2026. This means submitting your profile earlier gives you an advantage when scores are tied.

After receiving an invitation, candidates have 60 days to prepare and submit their complete application package: language test results, education credentials, proof of Canadian work experience, and other documents.

How the Express Entry system works

Express Entry is an online platform through which Canada invites candidates for permanent residence under three federal programs:

Each candidate receives points for age, education level, language skills, work experience, and other factors. The higher your total score, the better your chances of receiving an invitation.

If you're working in Canada and considering permanent status, book a consultation with a licensed immigration consultant to explore your options.
