Express Entry has increased the passing score for provincial nominees
In the new draw, 334 candidates received invitations, and the minimum score increased to 805 points.
On May 25, 2026, Canada held another Express Entry draw for candidates with a provincial nomination. This time, 334 candidates received invitations to apply for permanent residence.
The minimum score required was 805. That's 7 points higher than the previous draw on May 11, 2026, when the cutoff was 798 and 380 people received invitations. The number of invitations also decreased this time.
The trend toward stricter requirements continues: the cutoff score for provincial nominees has been rising for several draws in a row. Still, a provincial nomination gives you a major advantage: the 600-point bonus lets candidates get well ahead of other applicants in the system. In terms of base points, candidates needed just 205 points from age, education, language skills, and work experience to qualify for this draw.
If several candidates had the same score of 805, priority went to those whose profile was created before October 16, 2025. The earlier you submit your profile, the better your chances when scores are tied.
After receiving an invitation, candidates have 60 days to gather and submit all required documents: language test results, proof of qualifications, and work experience.

What does a provincial nomination get you
Canada's provinces and territories run their own immigration programs based on local economic needs. You can get a nomination if you:
- meet the requirements of one of the federal programs;
- have an active Express Entry profile;
- receive an invitation from a province, which adds 600 points to your score.
If you're planning to immigrate through a provincial program, book a consultation with a licensed specialist to understand the requirements and choose the right path.
