British Columbia sent out 333 invitations to specialists from four industries

Healthcare workers, veterinarians, childcare workers, and construction workers got a chance to immigrate to the province in May 2026.

On May 6, 2026, British Columbia held a sector-specific draw for candidates under its Provincial Nominee Program. Invitations to apply were sent to professionals in healthcare, veterinary services, early childhood education, and construction. The province issued a total of 333 invitations.

Healthcare

Healthcare professionals received the highest number of invitations: 117 candidates with a minimum score of 108 were selected across all priority healthcare occupations. The province continues to actively recruit healthcare workers to address staffing shortages in this sector.

Veterinary Services

9 candidates working in the veterinary field were invited separately. This category included veterinarians and veterinary technicians with valid professional certification. The minimum passing score was 100.

Early Childhood Education

86 invitations were issued to early childhood educators. The selection threshold for this category was set at 115 points. The demand for early childhood specialists remains high throughout the province.

Construction

The most invitations in this draw went to construction professionals: 121 candidates with a minimum score of 108. The selection covered all priority construction occupations, including workers whose apprenticeships are registered in the provincial registry.

Draw Summary

This draw was exclusively sector-based and targeted professionals in specific occupations that are most in demand in British Columbia. Unlike draws under the high economic impact category, there were no minimum wage or job level requirements. The priority was matching the candidate's occupation to one of the sectors identified by the province.

As of May 6, 2026, there were 9,967 registrations in the Skilled Worker program pool. The largest concentration of candidates falls within the 100 to 119 point range, making competition particularly intense in these segments.
