Sheridan College — 92 programs for international students and a pathway to immigration to Canada

Find out which programs open doors to immigration in Canada and how to enroll in one of Ontario's leading colleges.

At the CPF Toronto 2026 conference, one of the institutions that presented its programs was Sheridan College — one of the leading colleges in Ontario province. The presentation was led by Kim Tran, Director of International Recruitment. The session focused on how international students can most effectively navigate the path from choosing a program to obtaining a study permit in light of tightening visa requirements.

Our company is an official agent of Sheridan College and provides a full range of services: program selection, preparation of application documents, and subsequent visa application. In this article, we're sharing key information from the college's presentation that will be useful for those considering studying in Canada as a path to immigration.

Three Campuses in the Greater Toronto Area

Sheridan College has three campuses in the Greater Toronto Area: Davis Campus in Brampton, Hazel McCallion Campus in Mississauga, and Trafalgar Road Campus in Oakville. All three are located in rapidly developing Toronto suburbs with convenient transportation access and well-developed infrastructure.

92 Programs and Educational Pathways

Currently, Sheridan College offers international students 92 programs and educational pathways at various levels: 8 certificate programs (1 year), 21 diploma programs (2 years), 9 advanced diploma programs (3 years), 21 bachelor's degree programs (4 years), 16 post-graduate certificate programs, 1 master's program, and 12 degree completion pathways for those who want to earn a Canadian bachelor's degree based on their existing education.

This variety means you can find a suitable program for almost any level of preparation and career goals — from a one-year certificate to a full master's degree.

Healthcare and Social Services: 20 Programs

One of Sheridan College's strongest areas is training specialists in healthcare and social services. The college offers 20 programs in this category, including nursing programs (diploma and bachelor's degree), diagnostic imaging (X-ray, ultrasound, MRI), massage therapy (three-year advanced diploma), as well as programs in addictions and mental health, healthcare facility management, nutrition and food service management, pharmacy, and veterinary care.

This field is especially relevant from an immigration perspective: healthcare and social services professions are included in the priority categories for Express Entry draws and Provincial Nominee Programs. Graduates of programs in this category receive additional advantages when applying for permanent residence.

Pre-Health Sciences Preparatory Program

For those who want to enter medical programs but don't yet meet the subject requirements, Sheridan offers a Pre-health Sciences preparatory program. After completing it, students can transfer to diploma programs with credit for completed courses, and also apply to partner universities through articulation agreements. Specifically, graduates with a minimum GPA of 3.0 can continue their studies at Queen's University (Bachelor of Health Sciences) or York University (Bachelor's in Kinesiology, Global Health, or Psychology).

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics: 45 Programs

The largest number of programs — 45 — is in the STEM category: science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. These include computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, graphic design, marketing management with a focus on digital strategies, IT project management, urban design, cybersecurity for operational technologies, and game development and design.

STEM programs are also among the priorities for immigration draws, making them especially attractive for those planning to stay in Canada after graduation.

New Program: Financial Technologies

A new post-graduate certificate program in financial technologies deserves special attention, with the first intake planned for fall 2026. The program lasts one year and qualifies for a post-graduation work permit. Classes will be held at the Hazel McCallion Campus in Mississauga, as well as online.

The program focuses on working with artificial intelligence tools, machine learning for fraud detection and risk assessment, blockchain technology, and predictive analytics. It's available not only to business graduates — a special introductory finance course allows IT graduates to build the necessary foundation. The program also includes a practicum (360 hours) through Sheridan's partner network of over 12,000 employers.

Skilled Trades: 10 Programs

Sheridan College offers 10 programs in skilled trades: CNC machining and precision manufacturing, electrical engineering, plumbing (1 and 2 years), welding (1 and 2 years), industrial mechanics, construction technology, and construction engineering with a focus on sustainability.

Skilled trades are currently in high demand in Canada, and graduates of these programs find jobs faster than in many other fields. Additionally, after completing a diploma or certificate program in a skilled trade, Sheridan graduates can continue their education in a bachelor's degree program in mechanical engineering at the same college.

Education and Transportation

In the education category, Sheridan offers three programs: a two-year diploma in early childhood education, an intensive one-year version of the same program, and an educational support program. The transportation category features one post-graduate certificate program — supply chain management with a focus on logistics automation.

Bachelor's and Master's Degrees

Sheridan College offers 12 bachelor's degree programs, including animation, 3D animation and emerging technologies, craft and design (ceramics, furniture, glass), illustration, interactive design, interior design, musical theatre, film and television, community development, and athletic therapy. Sheridan is particularly well-known in the animation and visual effects industry — it's often called the "Harvard of animation in Canada."

The college has one master's program — animation, games and immersive experience. It's designed for students who want to work at the intersection of technology and creativity, using the college's cutting-edge studio equipment.

Scholarships up to $13,000 CAD

Sheridan College offers international students scholarships and grants totaling up to $13,000 CAD. The entrance scholarship ranges from $1,000 CAD to $3,000 CAD depending on academic results. Additionally, there are scholarships for entering a bachelor's degree program ($2,500 CAD), for academic achievement during studies ($2,000 CAD per year), for completing the language preparatory program ($1,000 CAD), and for entering a post-graduate program ($1,000 CAD).

Timeline and Admission Process

In their presentation, Sheridan College emphasized the importance of starting the admission process early. Admission decisions are made within approximately two weeks after submitting your application. Tuition payment takes anywhere from 3-5 days to 9 weeks depending on the country you're sending from. After payment, the college issues a confirmation letter of enrollment, followed by a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) within 1-2 days, which is required for applying for a study permit.

Study permit processing times vary depending on which country you apply from. As of April 2026, applications submitted from outside Canada take an average of about 4 weeks, while applications from within Canada take about 8 weeks. Considering all these steps, it's recommended to start preparing for admission as early as possible.
