Canada has reduced the passing score in the selection for French-speaking Express Entry candidates

Canada has reduced the passing score in the selection for French-speaking Express Entry candidates

4,000 people were invited.

On April 29, 2026, Canada held a new category-based Express Entry draw targeting French-speaking candidates. 4,000 people received invitations to apply for permanent residence.

The minimum CRS score was 400. By comparison, in the previous draw on April 15, 2026, the minimum score was 419, and 4,000 candidates were also invited. The cutoff score dropped by 19 points, while the number of invitations remained unchanged.

Among candidates with the same score of 400, priority was given to those who submitted their profile before April 7, 2026. When scores are tied, candidates who registered in the system earlier get preference.

The lower cutoff score makes this draw more accessible compared to the previous one. Canada continues to regularly hold separate draws for French-speaking candidates, which highlights the important role of French language professionals in the country's immigration system.

Candidates who received an invitation must submit a complete application for permanent residence within 60 days with all required documents.
