Canada conducted its first major French-speaking candidate selection in Express Entry for 2026
The passing score remained almost unchanged, while the number of invitations increased significantly.
On February 6, 2026, Canada held its first category-based Express Entry draw of the year, targeting candidates with French language skills. In this round, 8,500 people received invitations to apply for permanent residence, making it one of the largest French-language draws to date.
The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score was 400. Compared to the previous draw held on December 17, 2025, the requirements remained virtually unchanged: the minimum score was 399 back then, and 6,000 candidates received invitations.

Despite the slight increase in the cutoff score, the draw remains favorable for candidates with strong French language skills. The large number of invitations confirms that Canada continues to actively attract French-speaking professionals for immigration.
