The first Ontario selection this year for streams with a job offer

The province issued 1,825 invitations to healthcare workers, educators, and other in-demand professionals.

On February 2, 2026, the province of Ontario held its first targeted immigration draws of the year under the OINP program in the Employer Job Offer streams. Invitations were issued to foreign workers, Canadian graduates, and in-demand occupation professionals.

A total of 1,825 invitations were issued. The draws focused on supporting workers in priority healthcare and early childhood education sectors, as well as participants in the REDI (Regional Economic Development through Immigration) initiative.

Foreign Worker Stream

The Foreign Worker stream held separate targeted draws for priority occupations.

The results are as follows:

  • Physicians: 129 invitations, scores from 33;
  • REDI initiative draw: 14 invitations, scores from 44;
  • Healthcare and early childhood education: 634 invitations, scores from 36.

A separate draw was held for physicians. Invitations went to candidates with job offers in the following specialties:

  • general practitioners and family physicians;
  • specialist physicians in surgery;
  • specialist physicians in clinical and laboratory medicine.

In the healthcare and early childhood education draw, invitations went to candidates with job offers in the following areas:

  • nursing coordinators and supervisors;
  • registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses;
  • nurse practitioners;
  • physician assistants, midwives and allied health professionals;
  • licensed practical nurses;
  • home support workers, caregivers and patient service associates;
  • early childhood educators and assistants.

International Student Stream

The International Student stream held separate targeted draws for candidates who completed their studies in Canada and have a job offer in a priority field.

  • REDI initiative draw: 26 invitations, scores from 69;
  • Healthcare and early childhood education: 1,015 invitations, scores from 56.

In the International Student stream, invitations were also issued to candidates with job offers in priority fields. The occupations included:

  • health information management specialists;
  • accounting technicians and bookkeepers;
  • legal administrative assistants;
  • occupational health and safety specialists;
  • electronic and electrical engineering technologists and technicians;
  • licensed practical nurses;
  • home support workers and related occupations;
  • pharmacy technical assistants;
  • social and community service workers;
  • early childhood educators and assistants;
  • graphic designers and illustrators.

In-Demand Skills Stream

The In-Demand Skills stream held a separate targeted draw under the REDI initiative. The minimum score for an invitation was 34.

In the In-Demand Skills stream, invitations went to candidates with job offers in in-demand occupations, including:

  • home support workers and housekeepers;
  • material handlers and labourers;
  • metalworking and forging machine operators;
  • plastics processing machine operators;
  • industrial butchers and food processing workers.

REDI Program Draw

Ontario separately issued 47 invitations to candidates residing in communities participating in the REDI initiative. These draws covered the Foreign Worker, International Student, and In-Demand Skills streams and were designed to support regional economic development.

Profiles with job offers in fields such as accounting, information systems, programming, healthcare, and early childhood education were considered.

  • accounting technicians and bookkeepers;
  • information systems specialists;
  • software engineers;
  • registered nurses;
  • home support workers and related occupations;
  • early childhood educators.

Who Can Apply

Only candidates who received an invitation on February 2, 2026 can apply. The application process includes two steps:

  • The employer must submit an application for job approval through the Employer Portal within 14 calendar days from the invitation date;
  • The candidate must submit their own application and payment through the OINP e-Filing Portal within 17 calendar days from the invitation date.
Starting July 2, 2025, all job approval applications are submitted only through the new Employer Portal. Only candidates whose employers have registered their offer through the system and whose EOI profiles are successfully registered will be considered.

The previous draw for these streams took place on December 11, 2025 and also focused on supporting workers in priority sectors.
