Alberta conducted three immigration selections and issued over 1300 invitations

The province has issued invitations to construction specialists, tech workers, and other professionals.

In early October 2025, the province of Alberta held three immigration draws under the AAIP program. Invitations were issued to candidates through the Alberta Opportunity Stream, as well as to participants in the Alberta Express Entry Stream in priority sectors including construction and technology. In total, 1,324 invitations to apply for permanent residence in Canada were issued during the first week of October.

October 1 Draw: Alberta Opportunity Stream

  • Number of invitations: 1,003.
  • Minimum cut-off score: 61.

This was the largest draw of the week. The Alberta Opportunity Stream targets foreign workers who are already employed in Alberta with valid work permits, meet program requirements, and plan to settle in the province permanently.

October 3 Draw: Alberta Express Entry Stream, Accelerated Tech Pathway

  • Number of invitations: 230.
  • Minimum cut-off score: 52.

In this round, invitations went to candidates with a profile in the Alberta Express Entry Stream under the Accelerated Tech Pathway. This stream remains one of the most in-demand, as it attracts technology professionals to fill positions in the province's growing IT sector.

October 7 Draw: Alberta Express Entry Stream, Priority Sectors (Construction)

  • Number of invitations: 91.
  • Minimum cut-off score: 60.

This draw targeted Express Entry candidates working in or with experience in the construction industry. The province emphasizes the ongoing demand for skilled construction workers to support infrastructure and housing projects throughout Alberta.

Overall, the October AAIP draws once again highlighted the focus on key sectors for the province's economy: construction, technology, and skilled trades. Earlier in September 2025, Alberta had already conducted large-scale rounds for different applicant categories.
