At Vancouver airport, a record drug shipment was seized

560 kilograms of cocaine and methamphetamine were found in a shipment of auto parts.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has reported a major drug seizure operation at Vancouver International Airport. The operation took place on September 3, 2025, and became one of the largest in the airport's history in terms of the amount of narcotics seized that were intended for export.

Operation Details

Border services officers discovered a large shipment of drugs carefully hidden among auto parts. The cargo was supposed to be sent to Australia, but the vigilance of border agents prevented this plan from being carried out.

During the inspection in British Columbia, a total of 560 kilograms of narcotics of two types were seized:

  • 319 kilograms of cocaine, packed in 300 compressed powder bricks
  • 241 kilograms of methamphetamine in 110 vacuum-sealed packages

Next Steps

After discovering the drugs, the case materials were handed over to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) for further investigation. At this time, the investigation is ongoing.

CBSA representatives emphasize the importance of this operation in the context of fighting international drug trafficking and protecting Canadian borders from illegal narcotics trade.
