Canada has lowered the passing score for immigrants with provincial nomination

In the latest Express Entry round, conditions for immigrants with provincial nominations have become more accessible.

On September 2, 2025, the Canadian government conducted a new round of selection in the Express Entry system, targeting candidates with provincial nominations. As a result, 249 candidates received invitations to apply for permanent resident status.

The minimum passing score on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scale was 772. In comparison, in the previous round on August 18, the cut-off score was 800, and 192 people received invitations. The current results show a lower threshold and an increase in the number of invitations.

It's important to remember that candidates with a provincial nomination automatically receive an additional 600 CRS points. This means that in this draw, it was enough to score 172 points based on the main criteria — age, education, knowledge of English or French, professional experience, and ability to adapt to life in Canada.

Compared to the August selection, where the passing score was higher, the new results may indicate an adjustment in quotas or operational changes in Canada's immigration plans.
