Passing the selection process successfully opens the door to obtaining permanent residency in Canada.

Our client has received the long-awaited invitation to apply for permanent residence through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). This is a significant milestone in the immigration process, paving the way for obtaining Canadian permanent residence.

Client Success Story

Our client's journey to receiving the OINP invitation began several years ago when he came to Canada as an international student. After successfully graduating from a college in Ontario, he found a job in his field and approached us to develop a personalized immigration strategy. Together, we determined that the "Foreign Worker Job Offer" stream was the most suitable option for his situation, considering his education, work experience, and current job position in the province.

What the OINP Invitation Means

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program selected our client based on his submitted Expression of Interest (EOI) and sent an official invitation to apply for the "Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream".

It's important to understand that receiving an invitation doesn't automatically qualify you for the program. If the candidate meets the requirements of the stream for which the invitation was issued, they can apply online through the OINP e-Filing Portal 24/7.

Critical Application Deadlines

Meeting the established timeframes is crucial for success in the OINP program. The employer must submit their job position approval application within 14 calendar days of the invitation date. The candidate, in turn, must submit their application within 17 calendar days of receiving the invitation. It's important to note that while the candidate can work on their application at any time during these 17 days, they cannot submit it until the employer has submitted their job position approval application.

If either party fails to meet the deadlines, the invitation will be withdrawn. In such cases, the employer would need to withdraw the existing job offer and create a new one, and the candidate would need to register a new Expression of Interest for consideration in future invitations.

New Employer Portal and Application Processing System

As of July 2, 2025, Ontario launched a new electronic Employer Portal, which has completely changed the application process for "Employer Job Offer" streams. The system now operates on an "employer-led application process" principle. All job position approval applications must now be submitted exclusively through this portal.

We previously covered the changes to the application processing system in Ontario in our video. Receiving this invitation represents a successful outcome of the updated system, confirming its effectiveness and reliability after the implementation of the new portal.

Next Steps After Receiving the Invitation

After receiving the invitation, our client, together with our team, will begin carefully preparing a complete package of documents in accordance with the program requirements. We help prepare all necessary documents, including proof of education, work experience, language proficiency, financial capability, and compliance with other OINP selection criteria.

Successfully completing the provincial nomination stage opens the path to applying for permanent residence directly to the federal government of Canada. This is an independent stream that doesn't require participation in the Express Entry system and allows obtaining Canadian permanent residence through a provincial program.
