Canada invited 225 candidates in the new Express Entry draw
The minimum CRS score has dropped. Candidates needed only 139 points in the basic criteria to receive an invitation.
On August 6, 2025, the Canadian government held another round of selection under the Express Entry system, targeting candidates who received provincial nominations. As a result, 225 applicants were invited to apply for permanent residency in Canada.
The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score was 739. This is significantly lower compared to the previous draw on July 21, when the cut-off score was 788 and 202 candidates were invited. Thus, the new round shows a decrease in both the threshold and competition among applicants.
Remember that provincial nominees automatically receive a 600-point CRS bonus. Therefore, to receive an invitation in this draw, candidates needed to score at least 139 points based on core criteria: age, education, English or French language proficiency, work experience, and adaptability to Canada.

Compared to the July draw, which issued 202 invitations with a higher threshold, the current draw reflects possible changes in Canada's immigration policy or an adjustment of quotas for the current period.
How provincial immigration programs work
Each Canadian province can nominate candidates for immigration who meet its economic and demographic needs. To receive a nomination, you need to:
- meet the requirements of one of the federal immigration programs;
- create a profile in the Express Entry system;
- receive a provincial nomination, which adds 600 CRS points and significantly increases your chances of getting an invitation.
