Canada has increased financial requirements for immigrants under Express Entry

On July 7, 2025, Canadian immigration authorities published updated minimum fund requirements for Express Entry participants. The new amounts took effect immediately and apply to all applications submitted after that date.
Current Proof of Funds Requirements
The required amount depends on the number of family members. Here's a table with the current requirements:

Who is affected by the new requirements
The updated financial requirements apply to candidates in two federal Express Entry immigration programs:
Candidates in the Canadian Experience Class program are not required to provide proof of funds.
It's important to note that candidates who have a valid work permit in Canada, as well as those who have received a valid job offer from a Canadian employer, are exempt from the requirement to provide proof of funds.
How to prove you have the necessary funds
To prove financial capability, candidates must provide official documents from banking institutions. These documents should include information about current account balances and the average amount over the last six months.
The funds must be legally obtained and readily available to the applicant. Loans, credit, and funds from the sale of property that has not yet been realized are not counted when calculating financial capability.
