Ontario conducted a series of draws and invited 3,719 immigration candidates
Canada invited foreign workers, graduates of Canadian universities, and professionals in high-demand fields to apply for immigration.
On June 3, the province of Ontario conducted a long-awaited series of targeted immigration draws under its Provincial Nominee Program (OINP).
A total of 3,719 invitations were issued. The draws targeted specific regions of Ontario and priority occupations, including healthcare professions and career counselors.
International Students
The largest number of invitations was issued in the International Student stream. Candidates living in Canada with a job offer from an Ontario employer were selected.
1,350 invitations were sent to graduates with healthcare professions in the following specialties:
- Specialist physicians (NOC 31101);
- Family physicians and general practitioners (NOC 31102);
- Nursing coordinators and supervisors (NOC 31300);
- Registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses (NOC 31301);
- Nurse practitioners (NOC 31302);
- Physician assistants, midwives and allied health professionals (NOC 31303);
- Licensed practical nurses (NOC 32101);
- Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates (NOC 33102);
- Home support workers, housekeepers and related occupations (NOC 44101).
The minimum score for participation was 68 points.
The following targeted draws also took place:
- 493 candidates received invitations for job offers in Northern Ontario, with a minimum score of 54. Participation was open only to those living in Canada, with a job offer from an employer in the region and at least a bachelor's degree.
- 334 candidates received invitations for job offers in Eastern Ontario, with a minimum score of 85. Requirements were similar: living in Canada, a regional employer, and at least a bachelor's degree.
- 363 candidates were selected through the Regional Economic Development and Immigration (REDI) pilot program. The minimum score was 60. The selection was made among candidates in Canada, without additional requirements for employer region or education level.
In-Demand Skills
372 people were selected in the In-Demand Skills stream. All of them were also living in Canada and had a job offer from an Ontario employer.
- 214 invitations were sent to candidates with the profession of home support worker and housekeeper (NOC 44101). The minimum score was 34.
- 89 candidates with job offers in Northern Ontario, with a minimum score of 32. Participation was open to those living in Canada, with at least a bachelor's degree and a job offer from an employer in one of the Northern Ontario regions.
- 69 candidates through the Regional Economic Development and Immigration (REDI) pilot program with a minimum score of 23. In this case, requirements were limited to living in Canada.
This stream is designed for candidates with occupations in demand in Ontario. Typically, it requires proven work experience, a permanent job offer, and meeting other criteria depending on the specific occupation.
