Ontario reduces the number of immigrants in 2025

The federal government has cut intake by 50%, leading to expected delays in processing applications.

On May 30, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) announced a significant reduction in its quota for 2025. According to the program's official page, the Canadian federal government has cut the intake for Provincial Nominee Programs by 50%.

This means that the number of available nominations in Ontario this year will be half of what it was last year. As a result, candidates should expect longer processing times for their applications.

Despite limited resources, the Ontario government will continue to review submitted applications and select qualified immigrants who can address the most critical labor shortages in the province.
