Immigration through provinces: Express Entry lowers threshold again in new selection

The latest selection round demonstrates support for regional immigration priorities.

On May 12, another Express Entry draw took place, targeting candidates who received a nomination from one of the Canadian provinces. 511 people were invited to apply for permanent residence.

The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for this draw was 706, slightly lower than the previous similar draw.

As a reminder, candidates with a provincial nomination automatically receive an additional 600 points in the CRS. This means they only need to score 106 points in other criteria — age, education level, work experience, English or French language proficiency, and adaptability to life in Canada — to receive an invitation.

For comparison, in the April 28 draw, 421 candidates were invited, and the minimum passing score was 727. So not only has the passing score decreased, but the number of invitations has also increased — this could be due to quota adjustments or changes in regional immigration program priorities.
