Medical professionals, rural workers, and aviation specialists have received invitations from Alberta

The province held a series of selections in early May as part of its key immigration streams.

From May 1 to 8, Alberta conducted four immigration draws under its Provincial Nominee Program (AAIP). Invitations were sent to 256 candidates who met the requirements of various streams, including healthcare, rural development, and aviation.

May 1 Draw for Healthcare Professionals

On May 1, Alberta held a draw for the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway with Express Entry selection. In this round, 36 candidates who scored a minimum of 59 points in the provincial assessment system received invitations to apply for permanent residence.

Candidate Requirements

May 5 Draw — Rural Stream

On May 5, Alberta sent 165 invitations to candidates through the Rural Renewal Stream — a stream focused on immigration to communities with populations under 100,000. The minimum passing score was 68.

Candidate Requirements
  • Minimum high school education;
  • 12 months of work experience in the last 18 months (or a two-year study program in the same city where the application is submitted);
  • Job offer in one of the participating communities;
  • Language proficiency of at least CLB 5 (for TEER 0-3) or CLB 4 (for TEER 4-5);
  • Community endorsement letter and sufficient financial means.

May 6 Draw for the Aviation Sector

On May 6, Alberta conducted a draw under the Alberta Express Entry Stream for aviation professionals. Invitations were sent to 20 candidates who scored a minimum of 51 points.

Candidate Requirements

May 8 Draw for Healthcare Professionals

The series of draws concluded with a provincial nomination under the Dedicated Healthcare stream outside of Express Entry. On May 8, invitations were sent to 35 candidates with medical education and a job offer in Alberta. The minimum score in the provincial system was 53.

Candidate Requirements
  • Job offer in an eligible medical specialty (nurses, therapists, social workers, etc.);
  • Compliance with licensing requirements;
  • English or French language proficiency at CLB 5 or sufficient skills to obtain a license.

The previous draw in the province took place in late April, when Alberta targeted professionals in priority occupations.

If you meet the criteria for one of these streams, it's an excellent opportunity to obtain permanent residence in Canada. Keep track of the draw history and don't miss your next chance!
