Toronto resident wins $20 million CAD
He used the same numbers for 36 years!
Stephen Dixon had been playing the Lotto 649 lottery for 36 years. All this time he used the same numbers, hoping that someday he would get lucky. And finally, it happened.
Luck smiled on him on August 5, 2022: it was announced that the owner of the ticket with his numbers is entitled to win $20 million CAD! The lucky man says he didn't even feel joy. He was in the store when his son reminded him to check the numbers.
Dixon recounts: "When I saw the 'Big Win!' screen, I figured the $20 million that appeared was an advertisement for the next drawing. Then the saleswoman checked the ticket for me and said: "Oh my God, you won!" and she started dancing and applauding!"
The winner himself was so shocked that, in a complete stupor, he went silently into the car and sat there for some time, trying to cope with his feelings.
Dixon had already received his check, as had many other lottery participants. He had not yet decided where he would spend the wealth that had fallen to him.
