Immigration to Canada will change for more than 30 occupations

Some specialties will soon be unable to participate in a number of programs.

On November 16, 2022, Canada will move to a new occupational classifier NOC. This will affect occupational requirements in immigration programs.

NOC is the national classification of occupations in Canada. Each occupation is assigned a code that reflects the level of skills required for the job and the field of work. The classification is updated every 5 years, and every 10 years its structure is completely revised. In 2021, Canada developed the new NOC, which will take effect November 16.

It is already known that because of the changes certain professions will no longer be able to participate in a number of immigration programs, while others, on the contrary, will be able to do so.

So, starting in November, 16 professions that previously could not register in the federal system Express Entry will be able to do so:

3 professions, on the contrary, will no longer be able to register in the system:

Also, 12 professions will now be excluded from participation in the Atlantic Immigration Program:

In the remaining programs, specialty requirements will be updated in the coming months.
