Financial assistance from British Columbia to Ukrainians

CUAET arrivals will be able to apply for provincial funds.

Eligibility based on need per month will be up to $935 CAD per person, up to $1770 CAD for a family of four, up to $1358.50 CAD for a person with a disability and $2193.50 CAD for a family of four where one adult has a disability.

Social Development Minister Nicholas Simons said: "We expect thousands of displaced Ukrainians to arrive in the next few months, and the changes announced today will help us meet their immediate needs while they adjust to new conditions."

He also added that this aid would relieve some of the burden on community organizations, as they help Ukrainians who have arrived to find jobs and adapt to life in British Columbia.

Ukrainians coming to the province under CUAET can apply for these funds for up to six months after accessing federal one-time temporary financial support, the Canada-Ukraine Transitional Assistance Initiative (CUTAI).

At the same time, B.C. authorities seek to support newly arrived Ukrainians with a number of important resources, such as WorkBC employment services, including resume preparation and job readiness workshops. To date, more than 185 Ukrainian immigrants have used this service.
