Immigration services: Canada protects clients from fraud

The government has opened a new regulatory body for immigration advisers.

On November 24, a new regulatory body, the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants, officially opened in Canada. It will regulate the activities of Canadian immigration consultants. The College is an independent organization of the Government of Canada that will protect the interests of clients who contact an immigration consultant.

Canada is a country where hundreds of thousands of immigrants move every year. It offers more than 120 immigration programs that are easy to confuse for the untrained person. Many people turn to counsellors for help. The Canadian government says there is rarely any fraud by licensed counsellors, but it is increasing regulation of their activities.

"We have an obligation to protect those who want to come to our country, and we are fulfilling that obligation. The new College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants is a guarantee that future Canadian residents will receive professional and honest assistance," said Minister of Immigration Sean Fraser.

The College of Immigration and Citizenship Counselors will have the authority and tools to investigate and discipline counselors for misconduct. The College will also protect clients from unlicensed counselors.

In addition, with the opening of the College, new, higher standards for obtaining an immigration counsellor's licence were introduced. Professionals will also be required to have their practice reassessed annually.

It is important to know that only professionals who are licensed by the College are authorized to provide paid immigration counseling and services. You can complain to the College about the unscrupulous professional.

The Immigrant.Today team has a licensed immigration consultant, Ivanna Pavlenko. You can verify this by searching the official website by entering the license number R706095 under "RCIC". We provide all services in accordance with Canadian law.
