New test to come to Canada
Canada's collaboration with Pearson will get the result by the end of the year.
Immigration Canada has asked the world-renowned Pearson Educational Corporation, that conducts foreign language tests, to create a special exam for Canadian immigrants.
The project is called PTE Essential and, like any other, will assess listening, reading, speaking and writing, but with an emphasis on non-academic knowledge.
By the end of 2023, PTE Essential will become the third test, following CELPIP and IELTS, to demonstrate English proficiency. The company expects that PTE Essential will help managing the high demand for migration.
The test will be conducted entirely online using artificial intelligence and strict security measures, which will make it easier for all participants in the migration process.
According to the company, the introduction of PTE Essential will be a very timely step due to the growing interest in immigration to Canada. By the end of 2025, Canada plans to have up to 1.5 million people in the country.
