Paperwork done: bring doctors back to patients

Legislation puts doctors closer to their clients: Nova Scotia's measures all provinces should adopt

Nova Scotians will now get health care way faster due to The Patient Access to Care Act.

The new measures reduce the administrative burden on doctors, giving them more time to work with patients. It also makes it easier for medics from other parts of Canada who move to work in Nova Scotia.

"That is unacceptable for Nova Scotia, and that is unacceptable to me. The legislation introduced today includes things that should have been done a long time ago that will help Nova Scotians get the care they need faster," said Premier Tim Houston.

The Patient Access to Care Act not only gives more time to doctors for the work itself, but also does not encourage doctors to move around the country in search of more convenient conditions.

In addition, the new decree recognizes the licenses of medical professionals who have been trained abroad. Recently the Conservative leader running for prime-minister Pierre Poilievre touched this issue in a speech. Such specialists are guaranteed to be able to work according to their professional training without any restrictions or regulations.
