Canada has received another million doses of vaccine

The vaccine, produced in America, arrived in Toronto on Thursday, June 17.

Minister of Public Services and Procurement Anita Anand confirmed that new doses have been delivered and thanked the Biden administration for its cooperation. Earlier this year, 1.5 million doses of Astra Zeneca had already been sent from America to Canada.

"We continue to work with partners around the world, including the United States, to ensure access to vaccines for Canadians and to help meet demand internationally," Anand said.

Although vaccine introduction in Canada has accelerated in recent weeks, it still lags behind the United States. Currently, more than 44% of the American population is considered fully vaccinated. In Canada, that number is just over 14%. Overall, enthusiasm for vaccination is much higher in Canada. About 65% of Canadians have received their first dose. According to the Centers for Disease Control, the number in the United States is 52%.
