Filing for an immigration program for nannies and caregivers

Although immigration pilot programs for nannies and caregivers have a lot of benefits, applying to participate is quite complicated. In this article, we explained what documents to prepare and where to send them.

A two-step process is used to work in Canada as a nanny or caregiver and become eligible for permanent residency.

The application for a work permit is submitted at the same time as the application for permanent residence.

The documents are submitted in paper form. In order to apply for a work permit under one of the pilot programs, you need to:

  1. collect documents
  2. to fill in the forms correctly
  3. pay several application processing fees
  4. mail package

Travel documents and passports

Include in the packet of documentscopies The passports or travel documents of the main applicant (nanny/carer), your spouse or partner and your dependent children. Copies of the pages indicating:

  • date of issuance of the passport and its expiry date
  • photo, name, date and place of birth of the holder
  • pages with any changes in name, date of birth, expiry date, etc.

You must have a valid passport. Diplomatic, official or service passports are not valid for immigration to Canada.
